FAQ
Dianne Caine Australia is proudly certified cruelty free. We’re absolutely 100 percent against animal cruelty. Dianne Caine Australia does not conduct or commission animal testing on any of its products.
While we want to keep our products as natural as possible, and we are continually exploring effective, natural alternatives, nothing is more unsafe than a contaminated product. Any time we formulate a product with water, we need a preservative. Bacteria, yeast, and mould need water to survive, and while we can try to mix things in a sterile environment, eventually contaminants will get in. Generally, you can expect a water-based product to last three to five days with refrigeration before going bad.
So-called ‘preservative-free’ products can be a health hazard. We use a broad-spectrum preservative of Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Sorbic Acid.
- The Phenoxyethanol is less than 1 percent, and Chemical Maze advises Phenoxyethanol is “safe as used up to 5 percent”. The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) on Phenoxyethanol states that “the toxicity effects listed in the MSDS are based on exposure to the preservative when it’s undiluted”.
- Caprylyl Glycol functions as a stabiliser and has been shown to increase the antimicrobial activity of other preservatives.
- Sorbic Acid is a natural organic compound used as a food preservative, for its anti-fungal and anti-mould activity.
Most of our products are formulated and manufactured intentionally and lovingly at our very own laboratory and factory in Western Australia. Only a small percentage of our products are not made out of our own factory, however, they are still made right here in Western Australia. We have spent ten years perfecting the bioavailability of our ingredients resulting in a high preforming nutritional skincare range.
Yes. We use these in our premium, anti-ageing products due to their high performance and the results that our customers expect from their skincare. The skin contains natural peptides, which contribute to the structural strength of the skin and keep it plump and firm. The peptides we use in our skincare are lab-created. These strands of amino acids penetrate the skin to address common skincare concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, from the inside out.
No. We do not use parabens, phthalates, dyes or sulfates in any of our products.
Yes. We use a very small percentage (typically under 0.5 percent) of fragrance oils and/or essential oils in various products. A number of people have sensitivity to pure essential oils when applied topically to the skin, so we have found using a small quantity of fragrant oil causes less sensitivity and irritation for those with sensitive skin. Our fragrance oils are all Phthalate-free (which is often the concern around fragrance) and are a mixture composed of essential oils, synthetic aroma chemicals, and aromatic resins.
Anyone can experience reactions to both synthetic fragrances and essential oils, so we always recommend you try a small amount of any product first.
Over time, we have found a small number of low-hazard synthetic ingredients are essential to maintain the performance, colour, and stability of a high-end line. We strive to be as clean and safe as possible while providing the most effective skin care available.
As we use many different natural plant, marine, and mineral ingredients to formulate our products, always check our product ingredient lists on our website to ensure the product is free of all ingredients that may aggravate your allergy. We believe in complete transparency. Every single ingredient is listed on the label. If you are unsure, conducting a patch test inside your elbow is always a good idea before use.
Yes, most definitely. When it comes to using a new product or ingredient, start slowly and let your skin adjust. We use high concentrations in our products to ensure effectiveness, so a little tingling is not a bad thing.
Although allergic reactions to Dianne Caine Australia products are rare, if you think you have suffered an allergic reaction, please stop using the product. It is possible to be allergic to anything including essential oils and other natural ingredients. If you suspect you have a sensitivity we would strongly recommend you test a small amount of any new product on the inside of your elbow. If you experience any redness or tingling, please contact us at [email protected].
When sourcing ingredients from around the world, where possible, we choose certified organic. You can see these on our ingredient lists highlighted with an asterisk (*). There is no compromise on the ingredients; what goes in and, importantly, what stays out.
Occasionally an air bubble gets into the pump and stops it working. The following method will usually clear the air from the pump: Hold the bottle upside down with the lid on and bang the bottle down against a hard surface two or three times. You would need to ensure not to do this on a surface that will mark. This will almost always clear the air bubble. You can also try moving the pump around in the bottle by unscrewing the top. If the problem persists, please contact us at [email protected]
None of our products contain ingredients at levels which should cause concern during pregnancy or while trying to get pregnant. However, certain products contain ingredients such as essential oils that some women choose to avoid entirely during pregnancy.
If you have any concerns at all, we advise you to consult your GP or pharmacist and show them the ingredient list before using the product. Our ingredient lists are also available on our website.
